America got it wrong

There is no way Stephanie Edwards should have gotten the boot yet. I admit, she should have been in the bottom three, along with Gina Glocksen and my favorite to show America's insane ability to support losers, Sanjaya Malakar.

I think I am actually going to start calling in next week. I cannot believe that talent is going home and bad singers are staying. We have got to get Sanjaya out of this competition before he ruins hopes and dreams for people with real talent.

It could have been better

Last night's American Idol was a display of contestants attempting to cash in on the successful styles of the week before. Although I think it worked for some, for others it was plain embarrassing.

Haley Scarnato appeared to get the audience riled up to start the night off. I am going to venture a guess and say it was not because of her great singing. Although I think Simon (and the rest of the guys present) liked her sense of style. ;)

Chris Richardson did an OK job, as did Blake Lewis (the human beat box) and Phil Stacey. Sanjaya, as is the norm in this competition, proved again, in my opinion, that he really should not be in this competition. Chris Sligh decided he'd follow suit with the rest of the performers and traverse the audience. Too bad it wasn't while he was singing good.

As usual, Melinda Doolittle absolutely outclassed herself from the rest of the field. Jordin Sparks raised her stock in my opinion, moving higher in my rankings than Lakish Jones with her performance last night. Jordin absolutely sung the blue blazes out of her song last night. Lakish was alright, but it really was not her strongest performance.

Which leaves us with Gina Glocksen and Stephanie Edwards. Both girls had a rough night. I think I could see Gina in the bottom three tomorrow. Stephanie is still one of my favorites to make it to the top five. But what does America think?

We'll find out... after the break.

So how will they do tonight?

I am almost giddy with anticipation. How will they do tonight? Why am I so in to this? Why am I asking so many questions?

We'll find out... after the break.

The Hubers have a blog

The Huber family now has their blog up and running. It can be found at http://www.huberadventures.com.

I am so thrilled for them. They have made that final move to getting out on the road and have decided to document their travels in their blog.

I am greatly looking forward to the pictures they come up with and the chronicles of their journey. When you can, browse on over to their blog and see what is really going on with the Hubers.

Cleaning the garage

So today marked the day that garage got cleaned. Part of it is out of sheer necessity. Another part of it is out of the need to have something for the garbage haulers to pick up as part of our twice a year large garbage pick up. And the last part of it has to do with my wife wanting to see here severely overweight husband work that keester like it should be worked.

Whatever the reason, I now have a much cleaner garage. Which also means that I now have a crapload of stuff that needs to be dealt with in terms of liquidation. I, personally, prefer to eBay things off. Sometimes I'll use Craigslist. But under no circumstances do I give sellable stuff away for free. Okay, that is not totally true. But I will usually try to sell whatever I can.

So right now I have a bunch of shoes to sell. I will be listing more tomorrow. I will also be listing some books, movies and toys over the next few days so I can always have a little something going on in our eBay listings. I like it better that way.

But the more better thing is that now I have garage space to fill up with more junk. That way I can always have a dirty garage to clean :) . Because I don't know about you, but having $2,000 worth of garbage in the garage while $60,000 worth of vehicle sits out in the driveway makes perfect sense to me.

Happy St. Patty’s Day

In honor of the greenness that is St. Patrick's day, I thought I would greenify this entire post. I hope it doesn't bother you too much, but if it does... well tough. It is my blog :)

Anyhow, this is a short and sweet post. There really isn't a whole lot to say in regards to St. Patty's day other than try to maintain our composure at the pot of corned beef and cabbage. Oh yeah, if someone hands you a green bottle to toast with, just say no.

Enjoy your day. I will be enjoying mine. And don't forget to wear green lest some malintentioned children think you to be there personal pinching bag.

Be blessed

The other night we had a blessing session at Church. Our pastor, Dick Bernal, wanted to pass the blessing of the pastor onto the church, and then to teach us how to pass that blessing on to our family. Below is a nice little way that you can speak these blessings over your family.

  • I declare that you are blessed with God's supernatural wisdom, and you have clear direction for your life.
  • I declare that you are blessed with creativity, with courage, with ability and with abundance.
  • I declare that you are blessed with a strong will and with self-control and self-discipline.
  • I declare that you are blessed with a great family, with good friends, with good health and with faith, favor and fulfillment.
  • I declare that you are blessed with success, with supernatural strength, with promotion and with divine protection.
  • I declare that you are blessed with an obedient heart and with a positive outlook on life.
  • I declare that any curse that had ever been spoken over you, any negative evil word that has ever come against you, is broken right now.
  • I declare that you are blessed in the city. You are blessed in the country. You are blessed when you go in. You are blessed when you come out.
  • I declare that everything you put your hands to do is going to prosper and succeed.
  • I declare that you are blessed!

So if you are reading this, take a moment to put your hand on those that you love and recite these blessings over them. It is truly amazing what the spoke word can do. It is more amazing when God puts his blessing in it.

WHAT?!?!?!

Can someone please try to explain to me what in the world America was thinking when Sanjaya was allowed to stay in the American Idol pool? And how in the blue blazes did he finish just below Phil? Come on America! HE CAN'T SING!!!

On a side note, I did think that Brandon did not do good at all. But I seriously thought that Sanjaya did the worst of them all. And in fact, I thought Phil and Chris Richardson did the best among the guys. But they still paled in comparison to Lakisha, Melinda and Jordin. Those girls can flat sing, and they are totally putting the boys to shame.

Anyway, maybe next week America? Please?

WordPress Rich Editor

Having recently upgraded to WordPress 2.1.2, I noticed that the Rich Editor (TinyMCE) that was used in the previos 2.X version has suddenly disappeared. And until a few minutes ago I had no idea how to restore it. I knew it was available since all the code for it is on my server. I just didn't know how to get it back on.

In previous versions you would have been able to go to Options ->  Writing and in the formatting area, select Use rich editor for posts (or something along those lines). But that is no longer shown. So to remedy that, you now have to go to your own user profile in the Users tab and check the Use rich editor box.

Well, that is unnaturally intuitive, don't you think? Thanks go out to the editor of the My Digital Life blog for helping me remember how to do this.

Bye Bye Sanjaya Malakar

Last night was not a good night for American Idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar. His performance was absolutely awful. Was this a surprise? Not really.

Sanjaya should have been gone weeks ago
I think even Sanjaya knows this. He has dodged a bullet for the last two weeks, somehow pushing out contestants AJ Sabaldo and Sundance Head. Now in all fairness, I didn't think these two guys were all that great either, but I think a top 24 spot was wasted on Sanjaya. And I think I will actually feel better about the show once he gets voted out tonight. We'll see.

3 woman race
So here are my predictions for the top three this year. And for the record, this has been, for the most part, the way I have seen it since auditions, having only changed once; last night.

  1. Melinda Doolittle
  2. Lakisha Jones
  3. Jordin Sparks

Until last night, I has Stephanie Edwards as my third finalist. But she really showed last night that she would rather be reserved and sing OK as opposed to be original and take a chance that she might not sing exactly like the original. As for the guys... well, I really think that none of them will make the top three. I might even go so far as to say that none of the guys will reach the top five. They absolutely suck this year.

Anyway, I have no idea why I am getting so in American Idol this year. I have really been enthralled with it since season 2, when Ruben Studdard blew the competition out of the water. He, in my opinion, set the bar for what a champion should be on the show. Right now, both Lakisha and Melinda (and hints of Jordin) are resembling that feel.

Good luck ladies.
