Microsoft blows on so many levels

So I was looking at various browsers today (in response to my last post about Safari on Windows) and ran across something in IE that I thought was interesting: IE Add-ons.

But upon looking closer I found that the extensions are primarily trial type licensed software plugins. They are basically for sale. Just like Microsoft, I tell you. Why could they not follow the lead that Firefox has set and offer extensions for free? What the fracus?

Honestly, its not like it is that hard to support an open-source or free-ware project. Why would anyone want to charge money for browser extensions? I may be being picky, but the thought that something that Firefox has been offering for free for a while now is something that IE developers are charging money for is another reason why I absolutely hate Microsoft and IE.
