Twitterfeed must be hungry

Posted on December 11th, 2007 in Geek Stuff, Web Services

A friend of mine, Kieran Huggins (or K-Hug as we like to call him in our hood) turned me on to something the other day that would allow me to push updates from my Facebook status feed into my Twitter status. I thought it was cool since the Twitter hook in Facebook sucks the big and nasty and only works one way.

So I setup a Twitterfeed account. And I set up a feed in it to snag my last 5 Facebook updates and push them to twitter every 30 minutes. Except I think it started to update the last one update five times over. So my Facebook status starting looking like:

Robert is twittering: Robert is twittering: Robert is twittering: Robert is twittering: [status information here]

Seriously, WTF? Why would it do that? Is Twitterfeed so hungry to be fed that it is eating my status five times over?

So I got tired of it and removed my feed. Now I just update my Twitter and Facebook status’ separately and I am happy doing it. But it makes you wonder? What about all the other people that are getting their status’ absolutely raked right now?

Ah, the joys of web services. Hopefully this gets fixed. Soon. Until then, I think I will visit Pocket Tweets, a site I found on Twitter that Davey Shafik had listed as one of his post points. It looks promising and their web site is just plain pretty.

And in the world of Web 2.0 a pretty web site means that the site must be totally awesome dude.
