The first day of Wildcard Weekend has concluded and it kind of went the way I expected. The scores were a little surprising being a little higher than I expected. But for the most part I was pretty close. For the record:
Washington Redskins: 14
Seattle Seahawks: 35
Washington Redskins: 13
Seattle Seahawks: 23
Jacksonville Jaguars: 31
Pittsburgh Steelers: 29
Jacksonville Jaguars: 24
Pittsburgh Steelers: 17
I think the oddest part of all this chaos today was the way the Seattle/Washington game ended. Washington actually had a handle on this game until the fourth quarter. Then all hell broke loose and their game went into the toilet. I am not sure that this lapse can be explained, or that it even needs to be. The sad fact is it happened and the Redskins now get to start planning for next year a little earlier than they wanted to.
In the second game of the evening the Jaguars had a pretty good grasp on the game… until the fourth quarter (would this become a theme?). The Steelers mounted a savage comeback and actually took the lead at one point only to watch the Jaguars drive late in the game and score a game winning field goal without enough time to defend against it.
Overall it was a good, entertaining day of football. Higher scoring than I thought, but still entertaining.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
