New blog theme - Dark Sky
Posted on June 16th, 2008 in Geek Stuff, This Blog, Web Development
As much as I loved my Chocolate Ocean theme that I developed a few months ago…

… I thought it was time for a change. So I changed.
My theme that is.
While I am still take critiques and feedback on it, I will say that I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. I rather enjoy a rich blue with a light gradient. I also like reflection (Web 2.0 cliche, I know, but it is my theme after all).
I have even thrown in a few Silk icons from the famfamfam collection of images in addition to some bordering of roundboxes, double bordered boxes and light gradients throughout.
So if you have the time or unction leave me a note to tell me how much you like, or hate, this theme. Better yet, why not tell me how you would improve it?
PS As a side note I thought it appropriate to tell everyone that this theme was almost 100% built in my Linux environments. I used the GIMP for the first time ever to make many of the images in this theme (that I did not borrow from somewhere else). I used VIM almost exclusively to write the XHTML, the CSS and the PHP involved in this theme. And I coded it for rendering in Opera while making it work in FF.
No, it will not work right in Internet Explorer until the programmers at Microsoft take their heads out of the rectums and write a standards compliant browser. No, I am not supporting Internet Explorer with this theme. On purpose. Yes, it works exactly as it should in Opera, Firefox and Safari. All three of these are free to download and will work on just about any platform (except Safari won’t work on Linux… thanks Apple). I code to a standard, not a browser implementation. That said, please get a real browser or view this site a little broken (or just not view it - you are free to do as you wish).
