Preparing for a long weekend
This weekend marks our country's 232nd birthday. Dang, we are old.
But seriously, with a holiday comes extra time at home and with extra time at home comes more time for me to work. Some work is work for the home. Some work will be work at home.
I am on a client project right now that is absolutely huge and that needs serious, high speed attention. So I am probably going to be spending a great deal of time on that tomorrow. Which is nice, because I need the time to do it.
Even nicer is that my wife will more than likely be taking the kids to her sister's house for a while so they can go swimming and spend time with their auntie. I wasn't invited to this (for reasons that are probably better kept between my wife and I) but the fact that I am not going means that I will have more time to give to my client. Which is always a good thing.
Of course it goes without saying that if the kids are going somewhere tomorrow than I am going to have a crapload of work ahead of me to facilitate that. I will need to prepare them some clothes, a change of clothes, several diapers for the boy who is really yet to be potty-trained, swimsuits, sunscreen, towels, etc.
I will also need to make sure the truck is clean enough to be used by my wife tomorrow (which I can tell you right now it is almost as bad as our house is) and that it has gas in it. Whew, for all that work you'd almost wish that I was able to go on this day trip. Oh well, it isn't to be. I do really have a lot of work to do.
I will post a happy independence day note tomorrow, but if for some reason it doesn't make it out or you happen to skip word of wisdom tomorrow (for shame!) hear it now. Happy Independence Day America!
The rest of the weekend will be spent cleaning the house and working on the kids' rooms. They haven't seen their floors in about a month and a half. None of them have. In fact it is hard for them to even walk in their own rooms because they are constantly stepping on things. That will be corrected by Monday I assure you. No need to keep my kids living in a pigsty of a house any longer than this. Besides, our family was made to live better than this. Everyone is made to live better than this.
So here's to a great weekend, long, summer days and a clean house by Monday. May your weekend be as productive as I am planning mine to be.
