My insanity weight loss progress through April 17, 2010

As much as I hate the fact that I only lost 2 pounds this past week, I can honestly say that I am pretty satisfied that I have lost more than 20 pounds since beginning Insanity five weeks ago.

If you have any doubt that this program works, dispell them. See for yourself that this program does indeed work.

Insanity: Day 34 – Core Cardio and Balance

Week 5 of my journey to complete Insanity is now done and I have to say that I am so glad this week is over. The reason I am so glad is because as much as my body needed the recovery I was really not getting nearly the workout I'd hoped for with this week. And while I was able to improve my performance significantly from this past Monday I only lost a small amount of weight.

I like to celebrate all weight loss as a victory, but I am somewhat addicted to extreme success in this extreme workout, so losing only two pounds this week did not feel like the major success that the other weeks felt like to this point. Still, like I said, I'm celebrating the loss, which now puts me at a clean and even 20 pounds for my first five weeks of Insanity.

As far as the workout today goes, I did very well, completing every routine through the first 23 minutes. The alternating leg hops did make me stop for a few seconds, but I was able to get right back into it. However, the hip flexor burners still destroyed me today and the shoulder burners likewise did a number on me. I got further into the shoulder burners today than I have all week, but I totally had to stop several times during it.

Of course, now that the week is over the monotony is over, too. Which means I can totally get back into the groove of ever-changing, high-intensity cardio workouts. And maybe now I can get back into the habit of losing significant weight every week, too.

Until Monday, when Shaun T and I share words about how bad I want to kill him in defense of my own life as we do not only a fit test but a Max Interval Circuit as well, I bid you adieu. Get your rest tomorrow. I know I will be. Because next week is going to be no joke.

My Diet for April 16, 2010

Notes about this information:

  • I was running ridiculously late this morning so I had no time to prepare me a breakfast or a lunch. That said, I fell back onto what I happened to have at home which happened to be bananas and fiber bars.
  • Since I didn't bring lunch with me I had to go out to lunch. I figured that pretty much anywhere I decided to go would have salads, so my coworker and I decided to hit up BJ's Brewhouse. That was a mistake. While they have great salads, their salads, along with everything else they produce, is extremely high in sodium. I opted for their lowest sodium salad, the Garden Medley Salad, undressed with grilled chicken. While it was delicious, it was way too small to make a meal and as a result I was snacking on fiber bars within an hour.
  • Since the salad was undressed, I'm pretty sure that I didn't take in as much sodium or calories as I said I did. Also, the nutrition information in the BJ's Brewhouse menu is horribly lacking and I was not able to get accurate information from them so my fiber, protein and sugar counts are off for today.
  • If you look real close, you can see that my calories have gone up but my sodium is still moderate. This is my target all the time.
