My Insanity weight loss progress through May 1, 2010

I'm cranky right now. Not because I didn't lose weight but because I didn't lose as much as weight as I had hoped to. I wanted to be at 260 pounds this morning after my workout. And I think if I would have used my head yesterday and not eaten like an idiot I might have actually made that. Yesterday after my workout I was 260.5 pounds. This morning after my workout I was 261.0 pounds. That is not where I wanted to be and I am a little disappointed in myself for not hitting my goal.

Still, I am actually very happy with myself that I lost five pounds this week. Yes, five pounds. that is a huge win for me and puts me that much close to hitting my first weight goal of 250 pounds, which I plan to do two weeks from now. So if it comes across that I am whining about not losing enough weight, please don't read me wrong. I am not cranky about that. No, I'm more upset with how I handled my eating yesterday knowing what I wanted to achieve today. That said, here is my progress so far.

You think Insanity works?

  1. I’ve sometimes found it helpful when monitoring my weight to use a five-day moving average as the “real” number, rather than rely on any one reading from the scale. I got the idea from http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/www/subsection1_2_4_0_3.html#DexterRawWeight

Weight for large guys like us can fluctuate a couple of pounds from day to day, but the moving average doesn’t lie…

  2. I feel you. I don’t typically monitor my weight day by day for the purpose of weight loss. I do it to see how the foods I’ve eaten the previous day may have affected me for that day or how my exercise may have played a part how my weight changed for the day.

In the end it usually balances out. And as it stands right now, with the exception of the very first week of the program, I’ve lost weight every week. So I am definitely happy about that.

  3. Your results are terrific! I hope you’ll post some nice before and after pics when it’s all done; I think it’s very encouraging to see what Insanity can do for people who are not exceptionally fit at the start of the program.

  4. I absolutely will post my before, during and after pics. I was pretty amazed at my 30 day results. I can’t wait to see what my 60 day results will look like.
